In order to find the right treatment center in Arizona, it’s important to ask the right questions. Because this can be a difficult time, it helps to have a list of questions written down. This way, when you call each treatment facility, you can ask the same questions and compare consistent information.

Before choosing a specific treatment center, here are five questions that we recommend asking.

1. What levels of care do you offer?

Each treatment facility has a different set of beliefs, different routes to recovery and different tools for sobriety. It’s important to get a feel for the types of programs the facility offers so that you’re able to work on the things that are important to you.

Keep in mind that there are different levels of treatment, such as detox, inpatient, intensive outpatient, outpatient and partial hospitalization. Find out what programs the facility offers and where they fit in the continuum of care.

2. What types of therapies do you provide?

The level of care offered is important, but you’ll also want to know the types of therapies the facility specializes in. Most rehabilitation centers in Arizona will offer cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy, but other therapies to inquire about are EMDR therapy, rational emotive behavior therapy, existential therapy and motivational interviewing.

The more therapies that are offered, the more ways you’ll have to heal. Also ask about holistic therapies to further support your recovery, such as acupuncture, yoga, massage therapy and outdoor therapy. Not only will these therapies boost your recovery, but also they’ll help you rediscover your passions and interests.

3. How long do your programs last?

The length of each treatment program depends on various factors, such as the type of care you’re receiving and where you’re receiving it. Inpatient programs are typically 30, 60 or 90 days, whereas outpatient programs can last for as long as you need them.

Extended care programs are another layer of treatment that help you transition to everyday living. If you feel that your current home environment will not be supportive of your recovery, you can always ask about sober living and outpatient care. This allows you to access outpatient treatment services while living in sober housing.

4. What payment options are available?

Some “luxury” facilities cost tens of thousands of dollars and are not a realistic option for the average person. Fortunately, treatment is more affordable today than in the past because of the Affordable Care Act. Look for a drug rehab in Arizona that accepts your insurance, as this will significantly reduce your out of pocket costs.

5. Does your program provide family support?

Addiction is a disease that impacts the whole family. While you are recovering from your addiction, it’s a good time for your family to work on their healing as well. Look for treatment programs that provide family support. Typically, these programs focus on rebuilding ties, stopping generational patterns and educating families on the disease model of addiction.
