In 2022, 894,00 Arizonans needed treatment for substance use, but they didn’t get it. That’s a troubling statistic, and Wolf Creek is working to make treatment more accessible for everyone in need.

Some people think treatment always involves a long-term stay at a hospital-like facility, and avoid it because it doesn’t sound appealing. Thankfully, that isn’t the only option. Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) is a great choice for people in need of care for mental health conditions or substance use disorders who don’t want to uproot their lives to seek treatment.

What We Treat: Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders

Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) is ideal for people who want comprehensive care, but have responsibilities they can’t fully leave behind. Our IOP allows for a more open and customizable schedule without sacrificing the quality of treatment.

Wolf Creek provides housing for anyone who needs it during their IOP and if you live locally you can commute to your IOP sessions. You’ll participate in various therapies to support your long-term recovery, spending time both in and outside of our facility.

Group therapy is an important part of Wolf Creek’s IOP. You’ll gain a new perspective, learn new people skills, and build relationships that can last long after you leave treatment. Complementary and Alternative Therapies

We take advantage of our beautiful Prescott, Arizona location and offer outdoor adventure therapy, where everyone in treatment can take part in canoeing, camping, and other activities outside. Sports and staying active are a big part of developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, so we work that into our treatment too, offering team sports to develop decision-making skills, and build relationships.

Wolf Creek also utilizes music and art alongside traditional therapy.

Support Groups to Supplement Treatment

You’ll have access to various support groups during your IOP, with 12-step groups being the most prominent. We’re dedicated to providing you with the resources you need to achieve and maintain your recovery.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment Timeline

How long intensive outpatient treatment lasts depends on each individual’s recovery goals. They can last from as short as a couple of weeks to several months. There’s no way to rush recovery, and we can tell you that firsthand. We encourage staying in treatment for as long as possible to provide sustained support as you continue settling into your regular life and environment. It will empower you to conquer triggers as you encounter them, and ensure you have a safe place to share your difficulties and learn to overcome them in healthy ways.

Why Choose Wolf Creek’s IOP Over Residential Treatment?

No program is “better” than the other. It just depends on what suits you best and what treatment plan you have developed with your provider. Those who can dedicate all of their time to recovery, and who live in an environment that may provide additional challenges to managing their substance use disorder or mental health concerns, will benefit most from a residential program.

If you have responsibilities you can’t leave behind, such as a job, school, or family, IOP might be a better option. IOP allows more free time for you to continue your life outside of treatment, while supplementing with the tools and strategies you need to remain safe and substance-free. If you think IOP is right for you, contact us for more information.
